About Acugenie Clinic
When I started my acupuncture career, I worked in busy clinics where treatments often felt rushed and impersonal. I found myself "needling" patients one after another, like a robot on an assembly line. It didn't feel right, and I knew there had to be a better way to truly help people.
With more experience and confidence in my ability to make a difference, I decided to open Acugenie Clinic.
Here, I can:
- Tailor treatments for each individual patient
- Provide expert acupuncture services
- Offer lifestyle suggestions rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy
At Acugenie Clinic, my mission is to create personalized and holistic wellness experiences that can benefit patients for the rest of their life. I'm dedicated to helping you find the path that best suits your unique needs and guides you toward better health and well-being.

What I treat
Most patients come for one of three reasons: pain that won't settle, trouble conceiving, or a cycle that disrupts their month. I also treat what often sits underneath those — poor sleep, digestion, and stress that never quite switches off.
Back and chronic pain — low back pain, sciatica, neck and shoulder tension, frozen shoulder, knee and hip pain. Acupuncture is one of the first non-drug treatments clinical guidelines suggest for chronic low back pain.
Fertility and pregnancy — preparing to conceive, support through IVF cycles, and care during pregnancy.
Women's health — painful or irregular periods, PMS, perimenopause.
Everyday complaints — headaches, poor sleep, digestive trouble, fatigue, and stress that shows up in the body.
What happens at your first visit
Your first appointment runs about 75-90 minutes. We start by talking: what brought you in, when it started, what makes it better or worse, how you sleep and eat, what you've already tried. I look at your tongue and take your pulse, then explain what I'm going to do before I do it.
Treatment usually combines acupuncture with cupping or moxibustion, depending on what your body needs that day. You rest with the needles in for about 30 minutes. Most people find this part deeply relaxing; some fall asleep.
Before you leave, I'll give you one or two things to do at home with a cup of customized tea. Follow-up visits run about 60 minutes and skip the long intake.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're treating and how long you've had it. Most people come weekly at first — four to six weeks is a common starting course — then taper as things improve. For pregnancy support, menstrual issues, or menopause, it varies due to the complexity of each patient's case.
You should feel something change within three or four visits. If nothing has, I'll tell you rather than keep booking you. Recent problems clear faster than long-standing ones, and anything driven by daily habits needs the habits to change too.
Insurance and payment
Many plans cover acupuncture. Send your personal information and insurance details through our secure intake form and I'll verify your acupuncture benefits before we begin, so you know your cost before treatment starts. If you're not covered, I'll tell you the out-of-pocket rate up front. No surprises after the fact.

Common questions
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people are surprised by how little they feel. Acupuncture needles are about the width of a human hair — nothing like a needle used for injections. You may feel a dull ache or a spreading warmth around a point, which usually means it's working. Tell me if anything feels sharp and I'll adjust it.
How long does an acupuncture session take?
Your first visit takes about 75-90 minutes, including the intake conversation. Follow-up visits run about 60 minutes, with roughly 30 of those spent resting with the needles in. Arrive a few minutes early for your first appointment so we can start on time.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. New Jersey allows you to see a licensed acupuncturist directly, without a referral. Some insurance plans ask for one before they'll cover the visit, so it's worth checking with your insurer if you plan to use benefits.
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing that can move above the elbow and knee. Many points sit on the arms and lower legs. If what you're wearing doesn't work, I have gowns — it's never a reason to reschedule.
Do you speak Korean or Mandarin?
Yes. I treat in English, Korean, and Mandarin, so you can describe how you feel in whichever language comes naturally. Getting the details right matters more in this work than in most — say it however it comes out.
